Muscle Building
Supplements
How To
Choose What You Need
Let me say
first off that if you want to build muscle, you need to
have the right workouts, the right nutrition and finally
supplements. Because
muscle building requires above average nutrition which
includes a high calorie nutritionally balanced and high
protein diet. Remember that muscle building
supplements are just that, they are just supplements to be
taken along with an above average nutritionally balanced
diet. This article
will be covering a basic overview on muscle building
supplements to get you started and lead you in the right
direction to find more information on the
subject.
Basically, the
core supplements that you take are used to provide more
energy to allow you to train harder so you have a fuller
workout. There are
supplements to help increase blood flow and testosterone
levels to allow you to have better movement of nutrients
and to get a better pump during your workout.
Finally supplements that
aid in the recovery of muscles and allow better protein
absorption to aid in lean muscle growth after a vigorous
workout where you muscle tissue is broken
down.

The truth
about supplements is that they are not required for
muscle building, but they greatly accelerate your muscle
building goals as supplements are engineered for high
performance needs for muscle building.
The only reason I bring
this up is because supplements might cost a fortune for
those who do not want to overspend to achieve their
goals. You can
achieve goals through a nutritionally balanced, high
protein and high calorie diet, but it will take longer to
achieve those goals.
Some
Ingredients of Muscle Building
Supplements
As discussed
in the previous section, supplements can be broken down
into 3 categories: Supplements to increase energy during
workouts, supplements to increase blood flow and
testosterone levels and finally, supplements to reduce
catabolism or muscle tissue breakdown after the workout
and aid in recovery.
Creatine - The most
popular supplement to increase energy is creatine.
Creatine can also be
considered the most popular supplement for muscle
building as it increases your energy levels during a
workout and increases the ability you have to break down
your muscle tissue and allow lean muscle growth.
It makes sense to take
creatine right before workouts as it increases your
energy levels. Creatine should be taken 30-45 minutes
before your workout to allow it to absorb into your
body. Mild side
effects include dehydration and stomach aches, but with
enough water, this can be eliminated. Only take what you need as your body
will only absorb what it requires.
Nitric
Oxide – Nitric oxide is a freely occurring
natural gas produced by the body that aids in cell
communication and helps regulate/increase blood flow
throughout. As a
muscle building supplement, nitric oxide increases blood
flow to the muscles to allow a better pump during the
workout. As a
supplement, this also aids in muscle growth when taken
before workouts. Nitric oxide is composed of an amino
acid and increased usage or abuse can lead to nausea,
weakness, tiredness and diarrhea. There is no clear cut
dosage for nitric oxide, so the best way is to take a
small dose within a week’s time and review your reaction
to the supplement and adjust accordingly.
This will reduce side
effects and help you find your proper
dosage.
Whey
Protein – Hailed as the best protein source
available by body builders, whey protein provides the
body with the much needed amino acids and allows for
quick muscle growth and speeds up recovery times after a
workout. Whey
protein is also a good source of antioxidants and helps
build a strong immune system. Whey protein should be taken in the
morning, before and after a workout. It is most important after the workout
because it speeds up the recovery of your muscles.
There are no known serious
side effects of Whey protein, but dehydration has been
known to occur if not enough water is taken with
it. Aside from being
a muscle building supplement, whey protein has been known
for many other benefits including weight
loss.

I hope the
above information on muscle building supplements provided
you a simple explanation of their benefits and how they
can be used to optimize your muscle building
goals. There are
many advantages for using muscle building supplements to
help speed up your muscle growth goals.
Again, supplements are not
necessary to achieve your muscle building goals, but the
choice is yours to decide.
