Fat burning foods are those foods that are high in fiber and protein, but contain very little fat.   Basically if you want to lose fat, you would want to decrease your intake of bad fats and bad carbohydrates. Proteins require more energy to break down and digest than fats and carbohydrates and thus help you burn calories and boost your metabolism.   Finally the fiber helps to make you fuller for a longer period of time.   In any event, your body still does require fats on a daily basis and the proper amount of fat intake should be less than 30 percent of the total number of calories consumed a day.   Below is a list of the top fat burning foods that you can incorporate into your diet to help you burn fat and build muscle when combined with the right muscle building exercises.

Eggs

One of the best natural fat burning foods you can consume will have to be eggs or just plain egg whites.   When you take a look at eggs based on biological value (BV), it has a rating of 100.   Basically, BV is a measure of how absorbable a certain protein from a food is and how easily it is incorporated into your body as a source of usable protein.    Of course there is a whole science behind BV, but it is beyond the scope of this article.

There’s always been a big debate on eggs because the yolk in eggs contains high amounts of cholesterol.  However, the cholesterol contained in egg yolks is considered dietary cholesterol and this is the area where much of the debate has been taking place.  Some new studies have found that this type of cholesterol, being natural, doesn’t have any effect on your bad cholesterol levels.

If there is still doubt about the egg yolks, then the best thing you can do is to take out the yolks completely and you will have a high protein source that’s low in fat and high in vitamin B12.  Vitamin B12 is the main ingredient in eggs that aid in the breaking down and burning of fats.  Because of the eggs fat burning properties and the fact that it is high in protein makes it one of the best sources of fat burning foods in my book.

Lean Meats

Lean meats can be any type of meats that are low in fat content and high in protein.   These meats include chicken, turkey, beef and fish, such as salmon and tuna.   As I had mentioned earlier, about consuming good fats, fish is especially good for you as it contains both protein and omega-3 fatty acids which are fats that have many health benefits and very good for your body.

Low or non-fat dairy products

Low or non-fat dairy products , such as, yogurts and milk are another source of good fat burning foods.   These products contain calcium and casein protein which helps reduce feelings of hunger.   If you remembered in previous articles, casein protein is the protein you would take before sleeping as it is a slower absorbing protein that helps repair your muscles over many hours.   Calcium is also a good reason to take dairy products as it helps to strengthen bones, which I think is also an essential element in your muscle building quest.
